Denison Pep Rally Tonight at 7pm

    Football fan frenzy is alive and well in Denison, thanks to yet another playoff win by the talented DHS Yellow Jackets.
    School officials say the pep rally, sponsored by Red River Autoplex, is planned for Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the auto dealership which is located at the intersection of Highways 75 and 84.
    “There will be food, drinks and lots and lots of Jacket spirit,” said DHS Cheerleader Sponsor Kiley Brown.  “We hope everyone will come out and help us celebrate our football team and coaches as they prepare for another victory this Friday against Dallas Lincoln.”

                Go south on U.S. Hwy. 75. Take I-635 East to Military Parkway exit. Turn left on Military Parkway (east). Military will become Davis Street and the stadium will be at 410 E. Davis.                  

 


  Making Music at Mayes Elementary

    Thanks to the generosity of the Thelma Braun and Smith Foundations and Amy Jordan’s musical students at Denison High School, all seven DISD elementary schools are enjoying a high-energy production of the Disney classic 101 Dalmatians.
    The cast of 101 Dalmatians combines the high school musical troupe as well as several dozen students from each elementary school.  Jordan and her students spend one week, approximately 30 minutes per day, putting the production together.  It lasts approximately 25 minutes … just long enough for students, teachers, principals, parents and actors to get hooked on the idea of a regular music program at the elementary level.
    “This has been just a really huge success…these kids are awesome, and so excited and involved in the musical process,” said Theatre Director Amy Jordan.  “We’re almost where we need to be from a funding standpoint to put a part-time music pilot in place this spring in all the elementary schools.  Everyone is so excited.  The Braun Foundation, Regensburger Foundation and the district have each pledged several thousand to the proposed program.  We’re hopeful that a couple more foundations will also kick in money.  When that happens, we’ll be off and running.”
